“I learned to crochet at the age of 5 from my grandmother and picked it up again in my mid-twenties when I moved to the countryside and became a stay-at-home mom. (I’m 48 now).”

“It all actually started out with making doilies by patterns, and then slowly I moved on to making various wearables and accessories, eventually creating patterns for Estonian craft magazine and my own Etsy shop.”

“At that period I also tried my hand at other crafts like felting, knitting, sewing, making polymer clay jewelry, etc. But I soon realized that crochet was most convenient with small kids around – it’s really easy to pick up and put down as needed, there’s no need for extra space or special studio set up. I was really able to smoothly weave this practice into my everyday life.”

“Around 10 years ago, my crochet practice started to slow down, and there were years where I rarely picked up the hook as I was busy in other areas of life. When a lockdown came, everything shut down, and I started to crochet again. Haven’t stopped since!”

“My creative process is very intuitive. I never sketch anything out or plan much ahead. I do have a vague idea what I’m about to make, but often I fall into flow state and just let things happen. As I live in midst of nature – literally in the forest by the beach, nature is a huge source of inspiration for me. Whether it be mushrooms, plants, flowers, fish, or shells.”
