12 Unique Artefacts From Paolo Puck’s Imaginary World Called ‘Fliffmellington’

Published 2 hours ago

Children are experts at disappearing into imaginary worlds, and Paolo Puck is no different, even if he can’t really use youth as an excuse anymore. Embracing his inner child, this British-born artist turned the surreal characters in his head into a way to cope with real life. After he and his wife had to leave their home, Puck, now living in Italy, often found himself feeling homesick and slipping away into a strange and wonderful place he calls Fliffmellington.

First dreamed up in 2016, Fliffmellington has grown into a fantastically detailed project: an imaginary anthropological archive filled with accessories, deities, toys, weapons, and everyday objects, all designed in a retro-futuristic style. Puck says creating these faux-historical artefacts is comforting as it feels like he’s reclaiming little pieces of himself and, in the process, easing his homesickness. Blending folk traditions, childhood memories, and his own private universe, his objects bring the world of Fliffmellington to life and give the rest of us a peek into a parallel dimension.

Shanilou Perera

Shanilou has always loved reading and learning about the world we live in. While she enjoys fictional books and stories just as much, since childhood she was especially fascinated by encyclopaedias and strangely enough, self-help books. As a kid, she spent most of her time consuming as much knowledge as she could get her hands on and could always be found at the library. Now, she still enjoys finding out about all the amazing things that surround us in our day-to-day lives and is blessed to be able to write about them to share with the whole world as a profession.

Got wisdom to pour?
