15 Times This Artist Painted Beautiful Scenes Of Oregon On Small Pebble Canvases
Oregon is a charming state in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. It has incredible scenery and many recreational opportunities that draw people’s attention. So, The Oregonian Artist decided to capture the beauty of his homeland through art. He has been creating miniature paintings on pebbles for four years.
The artist tells DeMilked, “Well I didn’t really know so many people painted on rocks but I wanted to make a gift for someone one day, I thought it would be cool to paint something on a rock. It didn’t turn out well and I gave up. Then one day I was looking at a YouTube video where an artist was explaining a technique on canvas. I thought, “Hey! What if I try that on a rock?” I did and it turned out so much better than my first attempt. After that, I haven’t stopped and instead I’ve been refining my technique and trying to get better at it.”
He further says, “I truly enjoy creating these works of art because I can just get lost in all the details. And I always feel happy once I finish and have the opportunity to see it in my hand as a whole painting instead of just the details. The journey of painting it and getting over the challenges is fun but the ending is quite satisfying.”

Describing his creative process, the Oregonian artist reveals, “First of all I look for some royalty free images I can use for my work. Once I have one I like I try to find a rock that i think fits well with the image. I paint on a white base, you know just like a canvas. Then I sketch out the under painting with some brown paint to make sure everything will fit on the rock. For example where the trees will go or if there’s a stream etc. Then I start from the furthest part of the background and start painting my way towards the closest part, the foreground of the painting.”
He also adds, “If I’m filming the process I can’t hold the rock painting but it’s super important that when I do the details I actually have to physically hold it close to my face. That way I can make sure to paint in every little detail from rocks to trees to individual leaves. In my paintings like to select colors that are vivid as well as dark in order to emphasize the lighting of the landscape I try to capture in my paintings.”
