Woman Uses Her iPhone To Take Stunning Portraits Of Strangers On Her Daily Commute To Work (20 Pics)
The daily commute can be a real drag – you’re stuck in a crowded bus or train with someone’s bag constantly bumping into your shoulder and slowly count the minutes until it’s your time to get off. However, Israeli woman Dina Alfasi found a way to make her daily commute a little more interesting – and a little more creative. She uses her iPhone to take portraits of strangers and her photos are absolutely stunning.
In a recent interview with Bored Panda, the woman said that she’s inspired by all the little moments that happen every day. “My work is a testament to telling stories through a single photo and proof that all you need is just to look around to find magic moments,” says Dina. Every day the woman takes some sort of public transport from her hometown to her architectural practical engineer job in Northern Israel, and it was during these journeys that she started using her phone to photograph other passengers.

“I try to convey emotions in photography,” explains the woman. She’s always looking for people that would make her think about their stories. “I try to capture the depth of human complexity through photographing strangers on my daily commute. There is something both intimate and vulnerable about the way a person exists in a public space,” says Dina. “My daily photographs capture something inherently familiar in each of the strangers, lost in thought on their way somewhere.”

Dina explains that her project started simply as a way to pass time on public transportation but it eventually became a significant part of her artwork and life in general. “I feel like I’m taking a small part in documenting life during this time,” says the woman.

The woman says that her favorite part is reading the comments from people who message her after seeing her photo, telling her how the picture made them feel. “It’s always exciting and not obvious,” explains Dina.
