Once Upon A Time, A Street Artist Turned His 7 Erased Messages Into A Story

Published 10 years ago

A UK-based street artist known as Mobstr has created a truly interactive piece called “The Story.” The artist’s first message on the wall he had chosen was “Once upon a time…” Only once the unspecified city’s clean-up crew painted over it could he continue his interactive project. The “buff-men” were involuntarily incorporated into a street art project composed of 7 messages, which commented on the on-going process of the wall being repainted and the messages being lost only to be replaced by new ones.

This poetic communication between the artist and the city’s clean-up crew presents a different perspective on contemporary graffiti art – what it gives to the city and what it takes from it.
