Published 4 years ago

Did you know that Jeeps have all sorts of quirky Easter eggs hidden all over their cars? Don’t worry if you didn’t – you’re not the only one. TikTok user Jackie Foster recently shared a video of a spider he found printed on one of the panels on his Jeep, and people found it so fascinating, they starting examining their own cars for Easter eggs. And guess what – turns out there are a lot of them!

In an interview with Bored Panda, Jackie said that his sister informed him about the hidden animals but he didn’t think much of it. “A few days later, I looked around my car to see if I found anything but still couldn’t find anything. Well, some time went by and one day I was at the gas station pumping gas and that’s when I was freaked out by what I thought was a spider coming at me,” said the man. “Then I realized that it was my hidden Easter egg.”

In an interview with Motor Authority, Joel Feder, the Interactive Content Manager for Internet Brands Automotive, explained that Jeep has been hiding Easter eggs in its cars for years now, and that the tradition was started by automotive designer Michael Santoro back in 1997.

Santoro had a limited budget of 150 M USD (which is pocket change when it comes to automotive design) to redesign the new Jeep Wrangler TJ.  “Jeep owns that seven grille bar theme. And if you look at the cowl of the Wrangler, I repeated that pattern in the cowl to let air into the interior of the car,” said the designer. This simple feature paved the road for many fun Easter eggs to come.
