20 Illustrations That Perfectly Capture The Unseen Side Of Long-Term Relationships

Published 4 years ago

Amanda Oleander is a Los Angeles-based artist who creates beautiful and honest illustrations that perfectly capture the unseen side of long-term relationships. The artist knows that these relationships aren’t always as perfect as Hollywood movies like to show us and doesn’t try to sugarcoat it – perhaps that’s why her illustrations amassed her a following of over 1.1 million people on Instagram.

In a recent interview with Bored Panda, the artist said that she’s fascinated by the way people act when there’s no one around to see them. “I create the artwork that I do because it’s a way for me to lock in a moment in time authentically that was never photographed, and even if it were to be photographed, it might alter the reality of it because we know we are being photographed, explained Amanda. “Viewing my art is like being a fly on the wall.” She says she’s not creating art to please others or illustrating experiences she hasn’t lived through herself.

The artist thinks that it’s important to share the reality of relationships because one person’s reality can be very different from another’s. “I think it’s important because some people might feel comfort in the artwork, others might feel like they haven’t experienced this type of love and it’s something to look forward to,” explained the woman. “Some might feel seen. I think every person will experience the art differently depending on their life experiences, but at the end of the day, it makes people feel something and that is important.”

Aušrys Uptas

One day, this guy just kind of figured - "I spend most of my time on the internet anyway, why not turn it into a profession?" - and he did! Now he not only gets to browse the latest cat videos and fresh memes every day but also shares them with people all over the world, making sure they stay up to date with everything that's trending on the web. Some things that always pique his interest are old technologies, literature and all sorts of odd vintage goodness. So if you find something that's too bizarre not to share, make sure to hit him up!

Got wisdom to pour?
