Jan and Chase Renegar, Clauss’s neighbours, who are also professional photographers, admired Clauss’s work so much that they started to wish they had a baby themselves. They decided that Snuggles, their Jack Russell terrier, could be a perfect substitute.
The photographer points out that these frames should be considered as a tongue-in-cheek tribute to dog owners who sometimes get carried away with their beloved pets. “It’s funny because all these commenters are like, ‘Dogs shouldn’t be people.’ That’s the joke! That’s the point,” Clauss says. “That’s the funny part, is that this is how people really do treat their animals.”
