What If Pop Culture Characters Lived In The 16th Century?
“What if Superman was born in the sixteenth century?” asks French photographer Sacha Goldberger, “And what if the Hulk was a Duke? How might Van Eyck have portrayed Snow White?” Goldberger answers his own extravagant questions in this original photo series, which shows cosplays of modern pop culture characters in a Renaissance setting.
In his series, America’s best pop culture character exports – the good guys and the villains from Disney, Star Wars, and slew of superheroes – get re-made as modest ladies and gentlemen of the Renaissance.
“As science fiction meets history of art,” writes the photographer, “time meets an inexhaustible desire for mythology which is within each of us.”
