Artist Uses Papier-Mâché To Create Kinetic Sculptures Of Adorable Creatures (10 Pics)

Published 1 year ago

Penny Thomson, an artist and designer who has been working for over 40 years, has recently started creating unique kinetic sculptures. The artist has always wanted to inspire people to care for the planet and treasure the simple pleasures of nature, and her adorable papier-mâché kinetic creatures bring her visions to life.

“My good friend Laurence St Ledger, a fellow artist, made the mechanisms originally, until I learnt how,” Penny told DeMilked, “It’s been trial and error for several years but I believe we’ve mastered it now.”

Talking about her inspirations, the artist revealed “There’s something magical in seeing a tiny creature come to life with movement. Nothing quite like it! And it’s certainly a niche market, that’s something my daughter Briony and I have worked on together. I find inspiration from nature and experiment with materials from there.”

“There has never been any other job for me – I couldn’t live without my work. It’s where I am most at home. Although it can be frustrating!” the artist added.

Check out some of her wonderful works in the gallery below.
