There’s a certain curse present when it comes to turning video game or cartoon characters into movies. Even though we have movies like Super Mario Bros., Dragon Ball, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as perfect examples of terrible movies, that doesn’t seem to stop movie studios from making them. And the latest character to suffer this sad faith is everyone’s favorite spiky blue speed devil – Sonic the Hedgehog.

The creators of the new Sonic design clearly tried to give him a human-like appearance but quickly realized they made a terrible mistake. When the first trailer for the upcoming Sonic movie came out, fans were shocked by the hedgehog’s new appearance and it wasn’t long before they started creating memes roasting the new character design. In fact, the fans roasted the new Sonic so bad, Jeff Fowler, the director of the film, made an announcement on Twitter assuring that the design will be updated. Let’s hope the future design update will make Sonic look more like the video game character we remember and not the abomination that he is today!
