16 Mental Illnesses Illustrated Using Architecture
Imaginative Italian illustrator and architect Federico Babina has come up with a creative project to present mental illness and disorders. It is called Archiatric and it depicts 16 different conditions as works of architecture in various states of repair.
The images might seem abstract for some, but anyone living with the agony of mental illness should find them painfully accurate. The Barcelona-based digital artist also posted an animated video version of the project on YouTube for a more intense experience.

Gender Disphoria is not a mental Illness.
it’s in the DSM.
OCD should be something with circles or spirals… Like something going on over and over again.
I’m sorry to say that even if these illustrations are top quality, I can’t agree with the description
“mental illness” for autism and dyslexia. Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder wich has to do with the
central nervous system. Dyslexia is a reading disorder, not even a disease. And I don’t know about the other
disorders illustrated here. Loving arts is fine and is a source of well-being. So please pay attention to every
reader, ill or not. Thank you :)
When observing a piece of art there’s a difference between critiquing the work and correcting it. As artists we welcome others to share how our work may affect them, to have a conversation about it. Correcting one’s work, as you commented on Dyslexia and Autism, is not only carelessly condescending but spectacularly rude. To put it in a way for you to understand, it would be like someone bluntly telling you that you’ve done your hair wrong because it doesn’t suit the shape of your face. Hey, everyone’s entitled to their opinion. But that’s not what you’ve written; what you wrote is nothing more than an insult.
Unfortunately, you are incorrect. Autism and Dyslexia are both categorized under the DSM-5 as “mental disorders”. Dyslexia is a form of a learning/developmental disorder and Autism is actually formally titled “Autism Spectrum Disorder”
The roof on the ocd one should be in the line with the figures…..
