You can’t really put a finger on depression, it’s an elusive feeling that’s hard to understand and let alone be explained to others. But some illustrators did try to do just that, and the results are pretty terrifying.

Bored Panda‘s staff has dug up a ton of illustrations by various artists who have portrayed this state of mind, and here we bring you 10 most striking ones.

These might seem dark and very negative in nature, but they do carry a positive message as well. It’s that even if you have encountered depression, you’re not the only one who’s dealing with it. There are many people who are and many who managed to overcome it. Just don’t hold it inside you. Share your thoughts, because they’re too interesting to be kept in there.
