Someone Posted The ‘Real’ Photo Of The Paris Protest Fire But It Quickly Got Shut Down

Published 5 years ago

Recently, a picture emerged on social media, showing a fire burning in front of the Arc de Triomphe amidst the Paris protests. Then someone posted another image, ‘debunking’ the photo as fake news, saying it was shot at a certain angle to make it appear bigger than it really was. But turns out it wasn’t that simple.

After seeing the ‘real’ photo of the fire, international news agency Agence France-Presse (AFP) did their own take on this ‘debunking’. They explained that the two pictures weren’t even taken on the same day: “Perspective matters, and so do dates and places… because these two photos were taken on two different days in two different places, in Paris.” This was a perfect example of the importance of knowing your news sources – see the full Twitter thread in the gallery below!

One day, this guy just kind of figured - "I spend most of my time on the internet anyway, why not turn it into a profession?" - and he did! Now he not only gets to browse the latest cat videos and fresh memes every day but also shares them with people all over the world, making sure they stay up to date with everything that's trending on the web. Some things that always pique his interest are old technologies, literature and all sorts of odd vintage goodness. So if you find something that's too bizarre not to share, make sure to hit him up!

Got wisdom to pour?
