Dove’s Racist Ad Infuriated People, And It’s Hard To Believe That It Was Made In 2017

Published 7 years ago

Dove, the world famous hygiene products brand, has recently dropped the ball by releasing a new commercial featuring a black woman taking off her shirt to reveal a white woman ‘underneath.’ Sounds racist? Well, that’s because it’s hard to interpret it any other way, as the internet noticed straight away.

Dove quickly pulled the commercial and apologized for ‘missing the mark,’ but in this day and age, there is no such thing as ‘removing it from the internet.’ It spread virally and people all around the world have expressed some strong opinions on the matter, comparing it to the infamous Pears’ Soap campaign from the 1800’s, which depicted black kids as ‘being dirty’ with a nice white kid hiding underneath the dirt.
