30 Photos Of Strangers That Look Like Twins Taken By Photographer François Brunelle

Published 6 months ago

François Brunelle is a Canadian photographer who has been taking photos of twins for the past 20 years. There’s only one catch – none of them are actually related. The photo series is titled I’m not a look-alike! and so far François has managed to photograph 250 pairs of these “twins”!

In an interview with Bored Panda, the artist said at first, he traveled around the world looking for models for his photo series but after his work went viral, people started reaching out to him themselves. François himself categorizes his models into two types – those who have known about their likeliness for years and those who meet for the first time and are pleasantly surprised. “Pleasant for the most part, as they meet someone who looks like them in a way or another. They feel safe and confident. And curious about the other person,” says the photographer. “Some of them in this category, but very few, remain friends, but it is definitely not the rule.”

Even though the photographer spent 20 years working on the project, he still wonders about the likeliness. “I think that we are all the same but that our appearance changes how others perceive us. For the good and the bad,” says François.

Funnily enough, François himself looks similar to a well-known Montréal actor, and was even addressed as him a few times while out in public. “I thought it was funny and great to be told that I would get a better spot in the restaurant or offered a white wine ‘as usual?'” joked the photographer.

“The world is having a tough time at the present and I wonder if my work is relevant at all. I wish I could help. I wish my images could help us reflect on what we are after all and where we are going to,” said the photographer. “I am not the one who can tell. The only thing I can do is do my job: make photos.”

Aušrys Uptas

One day, this guy just kind of figured - "I spend most of my time on the internet anyway, why not turn it into a profession?" - and he did! Now he not only gets to browse the latest cat videos and fresh memes every day but also shares them with people all over the world, making sure they stay up to date with everything that's trending on the web. Some things that always pique his interest are old technologies, literature and all sorts of odd vintage goodness. So if you find something that's too bizarre not to share, make sure to hit him up!

Got wisdom to pour?
