Designing things not only require skills but also a practical mindset. There is no point in looking at aesthetically appealing designs if people can’t use certain them practically.
Recently a Twitter User Sahra Sulaiman pointed out the problems faced by bathroom workers because the architects and designers made some silly mistakes. More People on Twitter joined the thread and started pointing out that designers and architects should consult with the user before making anything. I can tell you which airport bathrooms were designed by men. Men never have to stand in line.
When I went to university, I originally chose architectural engineering as my major. I wanted to certify my own designs. However, I spent the entire first year being either tokenized, or degraded. I joined a Women’s group and all they talked about were ways to keep yourself safe in the workplace, and how to navigate male coworker’s egos. I switched to a completely different university, and major, the second year.

Yes men need to learn that with automatic flushers, they flush constantly when women use the restroom because they need to stand up and sit down over and over, to wipe front and back, put in or take out a tampon, grab a pad from her bag, etc. Also with the handicap stalls, it makes me so sad that they’re all the way at the end of the room and also when the toilet paper is impossible to reach.
