#1 Keanu Reeves Circa 1984

Keanu Reeves made his acting debut back in 1984 in a TV series called Hangin’ In. Before getting into acting, however, the actor dreamed of becoming a professional ice hockey player.

#2 18-Year-Old Robin Williams In His Senior Year Of High School In 1969

Before becoming an actor, Robin Williams tried out all sorts of different jobs, such as busboy, a bartender, and even a stand-up comedian. The actor also studied political science before dropping out to study theatre at the College of Marin in California.

While studying drama at The Catholic University of America, Susan Sarandon supported herself by cutting hair, working as a house cleaner, and a switchboard operator.

Since Jim Carrey’s family was struggling financially, the actor and his brother had to work as janitors and security guards at a tire factory to support themselves. It was during that time that Carrey dropped out of school and started performing stand-up comedy in downtown Toronto, slowly gaining popularity.

Morgan Freeman had his acting debut in a school play when he was just 9 years old, and went on to win a statewide drama competition at the age of 12. Even though the actor received a partial drama scholarship from Jackson State University after graduating high school, he chose to enlist in the United States Air Force instead. Freeman became famous as an actor back in the 1970s while starring in a TV series called The Electric Company.

Tom Hanks became inspired to became an actor after reading Eugene O’Neill’s The Iceman Cometh and watching the performance. He enrolled in the theatre programme at California State University and worked backstage in a theatre when he wasn’t studying. Hanks eventually dropped out and started auditioning for various small roles, before getting his first big break in Ron Howard’s 1984 movie Splash.

Joe Biden played basketball while he was in school and later football when he was in college. After graduating in 1968, Biden worked as a clerk at a Wilmington law firm, before being admitted to the Delaware bar and starting to practice law. Biden served in the United States Senate from 1973 through 2009, and became a well-known face in both U.S. and international politics.

Peter Dinklage decided he wanted to pursue a career in acting after seeing Sam Shepard’s play called True West back in 1984. The actor went on to study drama at Bennington College but struggled at the beginning of his career, and had to work at a data processing company for six years to make money. Dinklage’s first big break came in 2003, when he got a role in The Station Agent and was nominated for best actor by the Screen Actors Guild.

#10 Sean Connery During His Time With The Royal Navy In 1946

Sean Connery worked a milkman in Edinburgh before joining the Royal Navy at the age of 16. He returned to his hometown 3 years later after being discharged on medical grounds, and worked multiple odd jobs until the 1950s, when he started getting roles as an extra. Connery only became a renowned actor in the 1960s when he got the role of James Bond

Before getting his first big role in the 2001 movie The Mummy Returns, Dwayne Johnson was a professional wrestler, and even a football player back in college.4

#12 Christoph Waltz In 1975

Christoph Waltz saw his first opera performance when he was just 10 years old, and was absolutely fascinated by it. He went on to study acting in university but never forgot opera. Sadly, Waltz eventually realized his voice wasn’t suited for opera singing. He got his breakthrough role in Quentin Tarantino’s 2009 movie Inglourious Basterds.

Before getting her first leading role the 1993 movie Cyborg 2, Angelina Jolie attended the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute, studied drama at New York University, and appeared in stage productions, and music videos, as well as worked as a model.

Eminem started rapping when he was just 14 years old, and released his first album in 1996, although it wasn’t a commercial success. It was one year later that he adopted  the character Slim Shady and released the Slim Shady EP that caught the attention of Dr. Dre.

Lady Gaga was into music since a very young age, and started learning the piano when she was just 4. She studied method acting for ten years, however, did not get any significant roles during that time. Gaga used to perform in various clubs around New York while studying, and was noticed by a talent scout during one of her performances. She released her debut album called The Fame in 2008, and one of its singles, Poker Face, went on to become the world’s best-selling single in 2009.
