This UK Pub Has Been “Frozen In Time” Since 1993

Published 3 years ago

The Green Man was a pub located in Loughborough, Leicestershire, that closed down sometime back in 1993. However, even though the memories of this place slowly faded from people’s minds, the pub itself managed to remain almost perfectly frozen in time!

Recently, photos taken inside the abandoned pub started going viral, and its interior still looks almost the same way it did when the pub closed its doors 27 years ago!

One of the most unique things about the pub is its location – it’s located in the basement of current-day Carillon Court shopping center. The entrance to The Green Man was walled off during renovations, turning it into a real-life time capsule.

Most people seem to have forgotten about the pub’s existence – but not Stephen Ashurst, Karen Ette, Melinda Ingram, and Donna Shepherd, a group of friends who wrote a novel about The Green Man, titled Green Man’s Dark Secret.

To enter the pub, you had to climb down a hatch, much like entering some sort of fallout shelter. Some people say that a proper entrance wasn’t built simply because it was too expensive to do so.

The entrance to The Green Man was recently opened and what people people found inside shocked them – if not for all the dust, the place looked like its patrons had just left, with empty pints and bags of peanuts still left on the tables.

This was no ordinary pub – its walls are decorated with intricate murals and impressive medieval arches, making it look more like a castle hall rather than your local dive bar.

Even though numerous developers have shown interest in the pub, no actions were taken to revive it

One day, this guy just kind of figured - "I spend most of my time on the internet anyway, why not turn it into a profession?" - and he did! Now he not only gets to browse the latest cat videos and fresh memes every day but also shares them with people all over the world, making sure they stay up to date with everything that's trending on the web. Some things that always pique his interest are old technologies, literature and all sorts of odd vintage goodness. So if you find something that's too bizarre not to share, make sure to hit him up!
