20 Comic Illustrations Depicting Cultural Differences Between Japan And Other Countries

Published 12 months ago

We’ve previously explored why Japan as a society is very different to the rest of us. Yet our fascination with these cultural differences is not abated. In fact, Evangeline Neo, a comic artist who studied in Tokyo, Japan from 2010 to 2014, was similarly taken up by her own explorations of the country and subsequent culture shock.

During her time in Japan, she noticed many differences from other countries and decided to portray her experiences through a comicseries called Evacomics. Her depictions have been spread across two books under the names, “Eva, Kopi and Matcha” and “Eva, Kopi and Matcha 2.0” which are available on ebook platforms and Amazon. However, you can check out a few of her best works in the gallery below.

Shanilou Perera

Shanilou has always loved reading and learning about the world we live in. While she enjoys fictional books and stories just as much, since childhood she was especially fascinated by encyclopaedias and strangely enough, self-help books. As a kid, she spent most of her time consuming as much knowledge as she could get her hands on and could always be found at the library. Now, she still enjoys finding out about all the amazing things that surround us in our day-to-day lives and is blessed to be able to write about them to share with the whole world as a profession.

Got wisdom to pour?
