Published 5 years ago

It can be hard to talk about mental health issues – but not being afraid to talk about them is the first step to overcoming them. Sadly, on some occasions, not being able to get the much-needed help may even lead people to cause self-harm. Recently, to help those in need, one Tumblr user shared something her therapist advised her to do to stop self-harming.

She suggested that instead of inflicting self-harm,  you should draw something pretty where you want to cut. According to the user, this helped her stop and she urges everyone who experiences self-destructive behavior to try it.

One Tumblr user recently shared a piece of advice on how to deal with urges of self-harming

Another user suggested trying a drawing technique called “Zentangle”

Zentangle”  is a relaxing method of drawing where you focus on each stroke instead of the end result. “There is no up or down to Zentangle art. If fact, you can most easily create Zentangle art by rotating your tile as you tangle — always keeping your hand in a relaxed position,” describes “Zentangle’s” website. “You don’t need to know what a tangle is going to look like to draw it. You just need to know the steps. The result is a delightful surprise.”

One day, this guy just kind of figured - "I spend most of my time on the internet anyway, why not turn it into a profession?" - and he did! Now he not only gets to browse the latest cat videos and fresh memes every day but also shares them with people all over the world, making sure they stay up to date with everything that's trending on the web. Some things that always pique his interest are old technologies, literature and all sorts of odd vintage goodness. So if you find something that's too bizarre not to share, make sure to hit him up!

Got wisdom to pour?
