With nearly twenty years of painting experience, Mateo has explored working on various canvases. Initially a street artist, Mateo originated the concept of painting on Persian rugs in 2017. This novel approach paved the way for his transition into the gallery scene, resulting in over 200 pieces acquired by passionate collectors. The series boasts various depictions of feminine features, adorned with the ancestral motifs inherent in Persian rugs. The painstaking detail in his work adds a poignant layer to the already exquisite and familiar artisanal textiles. Born in France during 1985, Mateo is currently based in Montreal, Canada. He has built a portfolio as a multidisciplinary artist skilled in muralism and contemporary art. His murals appear on diverse, unconventional surfaces, including ceramic tiles, vintage wallpapers, tapestries, and various traditional handcrafted materials, utilising both spray paint and acrylic.
